Kitāb-i Tashrih al-aqvam (کتاب تشريح الاقوام) was published in 1825 by Colonel James Skinner. The book, illustrated by Ghulam Ali Khan and other artists from the Delhi area features 120 miniatures, including portraits that depict the origins and distinguishing marks of the different castes of India. This book was compiled at Hansi Cantonment, Hissar District and is now a part of the British Library.

ਕਰਨਲ ਜੇਮਜ਼ ਸਕਿਨਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਸੰਪਰਦਾਵਾਂ, ਜਾਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਬੀਲਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿੱਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀ ਕਿਤਾਬ ‘ਕਿਤਾਬ-ਏ ਤਸ਼ਰੀਹ ਅਲ-ਅਕਵਾਮ’ ਨੂੰ 1825 ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਾਰਸੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ‘ਚ ਹੱਥ-ਲਿਖਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਹੁਣ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਕਿਨਰ ਨੇ ਰੰਗਦਾਰ ਪੇਟਿੰਗ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਦਿੱਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਦੇ ਕਲਾਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਖੀ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਅਲੀ ਖਾਨ ਸੀ। ਸਕਿਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਅਲੀ ਖਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਯਾਤਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਹਿੰਦੂ, ਸਿੱਖ, ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ, ਯੋਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਧਰਮ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਜਾਤਾਂ, ਕਬੀਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਜ਼ਮਰਾ ਕਿੱਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਬਰੀਕੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ 120 ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਥੇ ਦੇਖ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ।
